It’s the 30th of November, so Christmas time is pretty much here. I’m really looking forward to it, I still get the childish excitement even as I grow up.
Today I have been making Christmas cards. I like making handmade Christmas cards for my family, it shows I put more effort into it though it can take a long, long time. Like today I spent ages putting tiny glittery bits onto one card with glue as I couldn’t find anything that would stick them. They’d better like it! It is a nice thing to do though, and I always think handmade cards look the best, and it’s often cheaper than the shops!
I’ve also been getting the Christmas songs out over the weekend. I’ve been making playlists and listening to my favourites, so by the time Christmas is actually here I’ll probably be sick of the songs! I’ve been writing my own Christmas songs, a couple on the guitar and a couple on the ukulele. They’re standard Christmas cheese really, but they’re good fun.

So yesterday I went to Coombe Hill in the Chilterns in Buckinghamshire. It is the highest viewpoint in the Chilterns, full of open grassland and woodland. It was a very pretty place, and two weeks after my last venture out the autumn colours have come out a lot more.

The monument at the top of the hill was put up to remember people of Buckinghamshire who fought in the Boer War. It had been struck by lightning in 1938 and almost destroyed, but was rebuilt. At the other side of the monument there was a bit telling you all the views you could see in all the directions, and how far away they were from you.

It was a really lovely walk that I’d recommend to anyone who enjoys that sort of thing. For more photos, you can visit my flickr here.

My tickets for Patrick Wolf’s concert at the London Palladium came today. I’m really excited about this as it will be my first gig, and he is one of my favourite artists. I was quite worried about the postal strikes possibly affecting the tickets coming, but now they have so here is one very happy person.
His latest album, ‘The Bachelor’, is one of my albums of the year. There are some great tracks on it, and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone. I love all the violins on it, and overall it is a bit like being taken to a fantasy land. The show will feature a string section and a gospel choir with the songs being played as they were originally arranged, so it should be something pretty darn good.
Oooh, excitement.

Firstly, welcome to the blog. It’s basically going to contain the random thoughts of myself and some other people, as well as some music and art related things.
At the weekend I went out to do some photography, to take pictures of the lovely autumn colours that have been appearing. The first place I went to, Wendover Woods, was a really pretty place. It was rainy though, and as I feel the cold I wasn’t keen on getting out of the car to take any photos although there were possibly a few mysterious-wood type shots to be had. Perhaps I’ll go again the other day.
Then I went along to Ashridge. By now I was feeling pretty travel sick from the car journey and so wasn’t in the best of moods. The place wasn’t very inspiring; the autumn colours were yet to come out as well as they where I live. There were chesnuts around on the floor, and I did manage to take the picture which I think will look good as the header for this blog. However, overall it wasn’t a very successful trip as I only took a few photos and none that I am particularly loving.
There’s always another day…
